This subject is available as the third part of a three-subject sequence: the subject continues over three consecutive study periods, with students first enrolling in a 'Part 1', then a 'Part 2' and finally a 'Part 3' for a total enrolment of 75 credit points. Students will receive an overall result for the subject following completion of the three-subject sequence.

Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the sequence of Research Project subjects, a graduate of the MSc(CS) is expected to:
- Have attained research maturity, including the ability to independently carry out a research survey, and plan, execute, interpret and report on a computational experiment OR demonstrate mastery of the mathematical and logical techniques required for research in theoretical computer science
- Have the ability to communicate computer science research

Students are required to undertake approximately 800 hours of investigative work, over an 18 week period.
