The supervised research paper will identify and critically reflect on an aspect of artistic production relevant to the candidate's major project.
The key task of the research paper is to demonstrate that the candidate comprehends the critical landscape in which their artistic practice exists or is experienced. The research paper should demonstrate the candidate's capacity for deep investigation that can critically address contemporary contexts of artistic production, as well as identify key issues and approaches pertaining to their major creative project.
Essential to the successful completion of this task is the student's ability to choose a suitable theoretical and/or methodological lens through which to critically engage with their creative practice and understand their research project.
Students are encouraged to present aspects of their research to their peers and will produce a research paper for examination.
