In their final semester, students apply their embodied, professional and creative skills to a season of dance, and perform a Graduating Year Dance Event.
Students expand their understanding and experience of dance production through collaborating with choreographers working within different genres and styles of dance, further developing their ability to inhabit choreographic thinking whilst contributing to and working flexibly within a choreographic vision. Strong ensemble skills are applied to different dance concepts and methods.
Students engage in the rehearsal and performance of a public performance under the direction of guest choreographers.
The connection between the learning environment and industry expectations and practice, completes the transition from student to professional dancer.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate efficient, flexible and rigorous practice through a rehearsal period and public performance season, incorporating sustainable training and discipline;
- apply initiative and understanding of the responsibility of the dancer as an interpretive artist in creative collaboration with choreographer and ensemble;
- embody appropriate performance energy for the space, design of production and audience;
- integrate choreographic and own creative choices into a coherent performance.
