In this subject, students continue to explore two of the specialist areas they successfully completed in Production Studio 3.
The subject advances understanding of the production process to a level where students are capable of undertaking leadership roles on VCA productions, becoming effective collaborators with performance makers and production departments in the creation of live performance, and applying skills to sustain themselves as independent practitioners.
Continuing with studio-based classes, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the chosen specialist areas as well as advanced level skills for employing these in the context of live performance.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- analyse and apply creative processes and technical skills used in the realisation of live performance, relating to contemporary practice;
- evaluate and apply the roles, responsibilities and processes in the production of live performance;
- implement safe work and best practices in technical theatre;
- interpret and apply creative processes and technical skills employed by a theatre practitioner in the realisation of live performance in a studio environment.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- develop and implement innovative and creative ideas;
- demonstrate a commitment to creative curiosity, academic integrity and the ethics of artistic practice;
- apply critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to unfamiliar challenges;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
- collaborate effectively, showing interest in others and respect for cultural difference.
