This subject deals with the principles of curriculum design and the translation of these principles into a program of study in a specific context. It covers the formulation of objectives and outcomes, content selection, teaching activities and the design of assessment tasks. Participants are encouraged to use the experience as an opportunity to work on the design of a curriculum in which they are involved. The subject also provides participants with the experience of reviewing each other's work online.
Intended learning outcomes
On completing this subject, participants should be able to:
- critically discuss the theories and principles of curriculum design in relation to their own teaching context;
- apply theories and principles of curriculum design to the teaching and learning needs within their specific learning environment;
- evaluate curriculum design in relation to theories, principles, and the needs of the specific learning environment in which it occurs;
- give and receive constructive feedback among peers;
- critically reflect on their own approach to and decisions related to curriculum design.

On completing this subject, participants should be able to:
- critically analyse theories and principles;
- apply theories and principles to a range of learning contexts;
- present material in a clear, organised, and suitable way;
- reflect upon and analyse the effectiveness of their practice; and
