Using the best available evidence to ensure that educational programs for healthcare professionals are reliable, appropriate and effective is crucial to providing a quality learning experience. This subject assists participants to critically analyse the research underpinning their clinical teaching and examines research approaches best suited to undertaking clinical education research.
Intended learning outcomes
By completing this subject, participants should be able to:
- understand key principles and concepts in the design of clinical education research
- identify key sources of research evidence that underpin clinical education
- critically analyse the design and methodology of published research on clinical education
- outline the elements of clinical education research that make it reliable and valid
Generic skills
After completing this subject, participants should be able to:
- demonstrate cognitive, analytic and problem-solving skills
- access and use relevant research literature;
- identify and implement best practice principles;
- demonstrate understanding in concise oral and written formats;
- demonstrate the ability to work either individually or part of a team;
