After completion of this subject, students will have the knowledge to perform and interpret clinical ultrasound of the breast, implants, surrounding soft tissues and lymph nodes and be able to write a structured ultrasound report. Students will have interpreted and written a report on 10 ultrasound studies of a wide range of commonly encountered breast and soft tissue pathology. Students will have the knowledge how to use ultrasound to guide percutaneous procedures on the breast and soft tissues
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify the key steps required to perform a standardised ultrasound of the breast, implants, and surrounding lymph nodes and soft tissue.
- Interpret pathology and write a structured report of the breast using ultrasound.
- Identify the key steps required to use ultrasound to guide percutaneous procedures of the breast, lymph nodes and soft tissues.
- Evaluate the requirements for training competence and certification of breast ultrasound.
