After completion of this subject, students will have the knowledge for performing and interpreting focused ultrasound assessment of the lung, heart, sternum and bladder, and lower limb deep venous system for thrombosis. Students will have interpreted and written a report on 10 ultrasound studies and will have the knowledge to perform ultrasound-guided vascular access
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Identify the key steps required to acquire the views for clinical ultrasound assessment of the lung, heart, deep venous system of the lower limbs, sternum, and bladder.
- Identify the key steps required to interpret and write a structured interpretive report of focused ultrasound of the lung, heart, deep venous system of the lower limbs, sternum, and bladder.
- Identify the key steps required to perform ultrasound-guided vascular access.
- Evaluate the requirements for training, competence, and certification of focused ultrasound.
