This subject involves a supervised independent study project. The project's topic will relate to career development, industry engagement and/or a study area relevant to the EMA. Findings will be presented in a formal written format, appropriate to the scope and focus of the project.
Students are required to contact the Subject Co-ordinator in the semester prior to enrolment in this subject so that appropriate supervision and subject expectations and requirements can be discussed.
Intended learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this subject should be able to:
- Demonstrate a specialist understanding of the industry topic being studied
- Show advanced skills of analysis pertinent to the industry topic
- Apply advanced research methods skills
- Undertake critical independent research
- Communicate research pertaining to industry effectively to a range of audiences.
Generic skills
At the completion of this subject, students should gain the following generic skills:
- Ability to conceptualise and plan a substantial project of original research
- Ability to present material in draft form and engage productively with a supervisor
- Ability to consolidate and enhance established skills in engaging creatively with a critical field
- Ability to synthesise critical arguments and debates
- An enhanced drafting and writing skills, in both a critical and creative manner
- Time management and ability to manage study resources over a sustained research project.
