This elective subject is only available to Piano Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music by permission of the subject coordinator.
In this subject, students will learn to develop a sequenced and comprehensive approach to piano teaching that is informed by both a thorough understanding of pedagogical principles as well as a flexibility that can meet the needs of individual piano students.
Students will be made aware of important areas of the piano literature and other teaching materials appropriate to different levels in the acquisition of pianistic skills and musical understanding.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- an overview of pedagogical approaches and techniques in the teaching of piano;
- an ability to design a sequenced piano teaching programme;
- a repertoire of teaching approaches.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- an enhanced capacity to undertake critical and independent research and to present pedagogical findings and ideas in a scholarly fashion

Subject only available to Piano Students admitted into the B-MUS Bachelor of Music
AND
PERMISSION OF COORDINATOR: Students are required to apply for permission to enrol in this subject. Students must submit proof of permission with an Enrolment Assistance form to Stop 1:
