This subject offers the opportunity for participation in student-led chamber music rehearsal and performance under the guidance of a professional mentor.
Through rehearsal of selected repertoire, the subject models industry-standard expectations for developing the musical, technical and communication skills required of professional performing musicians in a chamber music setting.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate the independence and collaborative skills appropriate to small ensemble work;
- perform selected repertoire to high standard;
- demonstrate style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending and musical gesture in rehearsal and performance contexts;
- demonstrate leadership and team management skills in rehearsal and performance contexts.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- communicate effectively in oral and written language, and in musical performance;
- demonstrate appropriate leadership in group settings;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work.
