This subject builds on the experiences gained in Graduate Chamber Music 1 by offering students further opportunity to be part of student led chamber music groups.
Through intensive practice, dynamic group rehearsal and the mentorship of an industry professional, students will be undertaking work that reflects industry-standard approaches to developing the musical, technical and communication skills required of professional performing musicians in a chamber music setting.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- perform confidently as an individual and as a member of a cohesive small ensemble;
- perform selected repertoire to professional standard;
- consistently make informed choices in matters of style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending and musical gesture;
- demonstrate a capacity to lead and collaborate effectively in rehearsal and performance contexts.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- communicate effectively in oral and written language, and in musical performance;
- demonstrate appropriate leadership in group settings;
- promote and maintain the wellbeing of self and others;
- manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work.
