This subject will further explore a range of stimulus requiring physical and vocal adjustments to best serve a breadth of narratives.
Students will expand on established technical skills across the three disciplines of acting, singing and dancing from Music Theatre Studio 3 to adapt their individual professional instrument to incorporate style and character as required by given texts and choreography through performance.
Classes will include acting, spoken-voice, dance techniques, solo singing and singing repertoire classes. Through skills-based performances and reflection, students will develop advanced knowledge of acting, singing, and dancing.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- distinguish and apply appropriate technical skills necessary to demonstrate character and style as interpreted from a given stimulus;
- demonstrate proficiency in incorporating style, storytelling, and character to various genres and styles of dance technique and choreography;
- explore the interplay between popular vocal styles and current music theatre voice;
- combine established techniques with elements required to play heightened text through a range of repertoire;
- critically reflect on acting, singing and dancing skills.
