This subject involves a learning contract/project plan to be negotiated between the student and the subject coordinator and completion of a substantive piece of work based on the contract/plan. The focus of the work is an innovative project aimed at improving health outcomes. Students will use the project to develop their capacity to apply and develop the evidence for practice and extend knowledge in an area of their choice that supplements their learning but is not taught in other subjects. The proposed work should also align with the student’s course learning objectives and be linked with other subjects for the purpose of sequential development of knowledge.
Intended learning outcomes
At the completion of this subject the student should be able to:
- Identify a novel health improvement goal and plan an innovative practice and/or service improvement project to achieve the goal
- Identify learning needs and develop a plan to address their own learning needs
- Use an evidence-based approach to explore a topic of enquiry
- Formulate outcome criteria to measure achievement of learning objectives and achievement of project goal
- Learn and work independently to achieve learning objectives and project health improvement goals
- Evaluate innovation and practice improvement project outcomes recommend future innovations and practice improvements.
