Subject Overview:

Dance in second semester extends the work of first semester with further exploration of technique, style, character and story. In the latter part of the semester routines will be developed for presentation in the final concert performance, which will also be the formal assessment task for this subject.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this subject students will:
• demonstrate a developing ability to implement understanding of the relationship between dance and storytelling in music theatre in practice, including consideration of style, character and context;
• understand the importance of supporting choreography with sound technique and safe dance practice.

Assessment:

Continuous: preparation and participation in classes, demonstrating continuous application (60%)
Formal: based on performance of 2 set routines in the end-of-year concert in week 10 (15% each)
Written: Written: self-assessment based on a journal of classroom experiences and self-directed study 250 words, due week 10 (10%)
