Subject Overview:

A study of human resource management policy and planning, current issues in human resource management in education, human resource functions and activities including job evaluation and selection, work design, staffing practices, working terms, conditions and employment; performance management; remuneration; staff training, productivity issues and staff relations.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  • Will be able to understand and map the role of human resources in a range of educational setting
  • Be able to identify the critical issues and challenges facing the workplace and the managing people in educational settings
  • Identify key strategies for implementing change, talent management, professional learning and improved productivity in the workplace
Assessment:

A paper of 5,000 words addressing the course objectives (100 per cent)

Attendance at all classes (tutorial/seminars/practical classes/lectures/labs) is obligatory. Failure to attend 80% of classes will normally result in failure in the subject.

  • Understand of human capital and its relation to organization.
