Course structure
All subjects in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine are core.
See section below (Subject Options) for the structure of this course.
From 2017 onwards the subjects at Years One, Two and Three have been changed from ‘Year Long’ availabilities (i.e. Study Period Commencement).
The ‘Year Long’ subjects have been split into two parts (Part A and Part B) where students are required to successfully complete both parts to receive overall subject credit. It is not possible to receive credit for part A in a subject sequence without subsequent successful completion of part B. A student required to repeat the subject is required to complete both part A and part B (i.e. the whole subject sequence).
Students who completed studies at Years One, Two or Three prior to 2017 will have completed the Year Long iterations of these subjects. Refer to previous years’ Handbook entries for descriptions of these subjects.
The Year level descriptions of the DVM described below include references to the subjects offered prior to 2017 that have since been replaced.
In addition to the changed availabilities (i.e. from Year Long), the new subjects have been assigned subject codes with a VETS9 prefix to more accurately indicate that the subjects are offered at the level of Masters Degree (Coursework).
