The Master of Teaching (Primary) prepares graduates to teach across the primary years in all curriculum areas with depth of knowledge in literacy and numeracy education.
Teacher Candidates complete 200 points of study over two years full time. The first three semesters focus on teaching across all curriculum areas with a strong emphasis on clinical teaching practice and preparation for independent teaching. In the final semester Teacher Candidates can choose from coursework (which includes a capstone experience and an elective; with opportunities for an enriched placement) or research pathway options. The electives available in the coursework pathway are designed to provide Teacher Candidates with options to expand their professional knowledge in areas that are significant to schools today. Enriched placements expand Teacher Candidates practicum experiences in national and international settings. Whilst maintaining the generalist primary classroom qualification, Specialised Pathways in priority areas are an additional feature of the program.
