Students will be required to write a thesis of 15 000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor.
Intended learning outcomes
Stduents who successfully complete this subject will:
- have an ability to critically evaluate research and scholarly literature concerning Arabic studies;
- have an advanced understanding of major issues and sensitivities regarding Arabic studies;
- have the ability to discuss analytically social and cultural phenomena related to Arabic studies;
- have the ability to evaluate different methodological approaches to social and intellectual issues in the field of Arabic studies;
- have a capacity to engage where appropriate with issues in Arabic studies.
Generic skills
- have an ability to evaluate research and professional literature;
- have a capacity to articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations;
- have an appreciation of the design, conduct and reporting of research; and
- have the capacity to examine complex and important cultural materials from a scholarly perspective and present arguments in structured formats.
