Intended learning outcomes

Stduents who successfully complete this subject will:

• have an ability to critically evaluate research and scholarly literature concerning Arabic studies;
• have an advanced understanding of major issues and sensitivities regarding Arabic studies;
• have the ability to discuss analytically social and cultural phenomena related to Arabic studies;
• have the ability to evaluate different methodological approaches to social and intellectual issues in the field of Arabic studies;
• have a capacity to engage where appropriate with issues in Arabic studies.

Generic skills

• have an ability to evaluate research and professional literature;
• have a capacity to articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations;
• have an appreciation of the design, conduct and reporting of research; and
• have the capacity to examine complex and important cultural materials from a scholarly perspective and present arguments in structured formats.
