Students undergo supervised research training in specific individual projects among a variety of topics in health and biomedical informatics covering e-health, biomedical informatics for precision medicine, health informatics for participatory health or Translational research Informatics.
Students will learn how to design and conduct research in biomedical informatics areas, acquiring the skills for experimental design, technical expertise, critical thinking and analysis. They will also learn how to present and communicate their scientific results in oral presentations and written reports (thesis style).
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should:
- Gain technical skills in health informatics for experimental design and analyses.
- Be able to analyse and apply critical thinking in the evaluation of scientific papers.
- Demonstrate effective communication in science through oral presentations.
Generic skills
On completion students should have acquired the following generic skills:
- Ability to read and understand scientific literature
- Oral communication and presentation of scientific results
- Ability to conduct research
- Ability to analyse scientific data
- Time management skills
- Ability to write scientific reports
