The focus of this subject is to learn elementary skills in the use and operation of the material elements of theatre such as light, sound, costume, objects and digital technology. Students will then create short, collaborative performances drawing on the skills learnt in Acting and Performance Making 1A.
Intended learning outcomes
This subject enables students to:
- work constructively as an individual within an ensemble;
- use materials of theatre as central sources in the making of a theatrical performance;
- accept responsibility for their own learning;
- apply and integrate the material elements of theatre with the actor and action;
- practice using the material elements of theatre within the context of performance ;
- understand how the material elements of theatre work together to inform meaning;
- understand the technical and organisational requirements of a small scale theatrical performance.
Generic skills
On completing this subject students will have:
• the capacity for imaginative and transformative activity;
• the ability to use technical equipment confidently;
• the ability to manage time effectively;
• the capacity to participate effectively in collaborative learning as a team member whilst respecting individual differences;
