This subject guides students in the practical application of contemporary cultural development thinking and principles. Students will use their own professional contexts as the basis for the construction of a cultural development plan that is outcome-focused and evidence-based. They will develop skills in searching for and applying evidence in decision-making, the shaping of theories of change, and evaluation, to result in a plan that is immediately useful in the local government context.
Intended learning outcomes
At the completion of this subject, students should be able to;
- Demonstrate an understanding of cultural development theory and practice in the local government context through the creation of an effective cultural development plan (Course Learning Outcome 1);
- Demonstrate the effective application of evaluation and measurement in cultural development planning (Course Learning Outcome 3);
- Understand and apply contemporary principles of cultural development planning (Course Learning Outcome 2);
- Understand the importance and application of evaluation and measurement in cultural development planning (Course Learning Outcome 4);
- Demonstrate an understanding of and approach to the identification and resolution of cultural development planning issues in diverse contexts (Course Learning Outcome 3).
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to contextualise complex knowledge and synthesis this into effective communication.
- A capacity to critically investigate, modify and adapt new ideas and approaches.
- Contribute to debates about cultural development and its significance.
- A commitment to professional and academic ethics and excellence.
