Intended learning outcomes
Students who complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in this area of specialisation should:
- Be able to understand and critically engage with key theoretical and empirical approaches in sociology exploring the social patterns characterising contemporary societies;
- Be able to understand and use advanced sociological research methods, whether in the form of critical engagement with secondary materials; document research; field work; or other forms of sociological research;
- Have developed a reflexive awareness of the social, ethical and cultural dimensions of sociological research, analysis and practice.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in this area of specialisation requires:
- thesis subject (50 points)
- two compulsory subjects (25 points)
- two elective subjects (25 points)
