Students negotiate a research project with assistance from an academic supervisor. The student develops a research report which makes use of existing data, artefacts and literature as relevant to their project. Please note that students cannot undertake research projects that require Human Research Ethics approval.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate a depth of knowledge in an area of contemporary research in education.
- Understand the theoretical context of an issue of concern in education
- Understand the purpose of selected research methodologies
- Use research processes with due regard to ethical procedures
- Demonstrate a capacity to engage in reflective, critical discussion of the area of particular interest
- Demonstrate a capacity to extend professional learning through research

Concurrent enrolment in EDUC90419, and either:
- Current enrolment in the Graduate Certificate in Educational Research; or
- A H2A average, or equivalent in 150 points of study in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood), Master of Teaching (Secondary), or Master of Teaching (Secondary) Internship (students that commenced prior to 2017).
