Consolidating experience of producing art in Contemporary Art Practice A, student initiated projects are devised and developed further in consultation with the tutor. Individual guidance and advice will be provided with a view to realising resolved work suitable for the exhibition. A formal group discussion and critical reflection upon the artwork will take place. In consultation with the tutor, students will prepare and install selected works in a group exhibition in one of the School's exhibition venues.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students will be able to:
- plan and organise their own studio activity and effectively utilise resources appropriate to their developing art practice;
- explore ideas and personal concerns by means of the manipulation and organisation of materials and images;
- demonstrate a developing knowledge of contemporary visual art practice;
- investigate and evaluate the personal relevance of traditional and contemporary models of art practice;
- communicate verbally, their observations of and responses to the products of visual art practice.
Generic skills
At the completion of the subject students will be able to:
• Demonstrate capacities for artistic imagination, creativity, transformation and interpretation
• Demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to the national and international challenges for the professional visual artist in the 21st century
• Demonstrate an open, independent and inquiring attitude towards contemporary cultural developments and new ideas
