Through a series of workshops, tutorials, discussions and screenings, students will be introduced to writing adapted material for the screen. Students will take part in a script tutorial development process, both giving and receiving critical feedback from their peers. Drawing from professional skills and knowledge gained in previous years, students will be required to adapt and write a high quality and engaging short screen product.
Intended learning outcomes
This course will:
- Enhance students understanding of the contemporary adaptation landscape
- Help students develop professional skills and insight required to write high quality, engaging screen adaptations
- Further develop the students understanding of what makes a story engaging
- Further expose students to a variety of adapted screen material from many sources
- Strengthen already acquired professional skills needed to develop and write a script and present it in the appropriate format

- Communicate in oral and written form
- Lead a research and writing task from concept to completion
- Work in an independently motivated way
