- 1 reflective journal (equivalent to 1,000 words) ongoing, due end of semester (20%)

One of the following assessment combinations totalling 80% to be determined after placement test and in consultation with the coordinator:
- 1 oral presentation (10 minutes, equivalent to 1,000 words) during semester [20%]
- 1 research project (3,000 words) due in the examination period [60%]
OR
- One 1-hour Written Test (equivalent to 750 words) due during semester [15%]
- One Continuous Written Assignment throughout semester (equivalent to 500 words) [10%]
- One 10-minute Oral Presentation during semester (equivalent to 750 words) [20%]
- Two 1-hour Listening Tests (equivalent to 1000 words) during semester [15%]
- One 2-hour Final Exam (equivalent to 1000 words) during the examination period [20%]
OR
- Two written and oral comprehension tests due in Weeks 4 and 8 equivalent to 1500 words [25%]
- A 10-minute oral test in Week 10 equivalent to 500 words [15%]
- A group project in Weeks 9-12 equivalent to 500 words [15%]
- A two hour written examination during the examination period (1500 words) [25%]

- In-class oral presentations equivalent to 1000 words throughout semester [25%]
- In-class written work - dissertation equivalent to 750 words due mid-seemster [15%]
- Debate on a contemporary aspect of conversation equivalent to 750 words in the final three weeks of semester [15%]
- A research project on a historical aspect of conversation equivalent to 1500 words due in the examination period [25%]
Hurdle Requirement: Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of classes in order to pass this subject.
