This subject consists of intensive language instruction which is particularly directed towards developing students' skills in writing academic German. Problems of German grammar occurring at a superior level of the language will be explored alongside a discussion of the technical aspects of scholarly writing in German. This subject is particularly useful for students who are preparing theses or longer essays in German.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should:
- have gained an understanding of writing conventions when preparing scholarly work in German.
- have gained superior level language skills in the German language and the capacity to apply them accurately when writing academic German.
Generic skills
At the completion of this subject, students should:
- have acquired skills in research, critical thinking and contextualising information;
- have developed skills in communicating knowledge intelligibly through oral presentations and essays in German.
