Students will continue the program of practical study commenced in earlier Music Performance subjects. Vocal and instrumental students will further develop their technique and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied with an individually designed program of suitable technically-based repertoire in preparation for an end-of-semester examination.
In order to contextualise their education within the best practices of local, national and international standards, students are expected to work competently and productively as team members both alone and in groups, for example participation in individual lessons and Concert Class/Orchestral related ensembles. In order to ensure the highest level of performance preparation, 100% attendance is expected.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the subject, students should be able to:
- design a more complex recital program
- demonstrate growing artistic maturity and development in the preparation of recital repertoire
- perform the component works of a program with increasing musical understanding
- display a level of instrumental or vocal craft appropriate to the level of the repertoire presented.
Students should also further develop skills in:
- recital performance presentation and evaluation
- historical appreciation of more complex repertoire development
- developing best performance practice skills within individual and/or group settings
Students who have studied this subject will further develop and enhance:
- problem solving skills
- skills in more complex critical thinking and self-evaluation at more advanced conceptual and artistic level
