The anatomy and physiology of the peripheral and central auditory systems and aspects of balance function and speech production.
Intended learning outcomes
Be able to explain the physiological properties of the outer and inner ear and the central auditory and vestibular pathways that underpin the senses of hearing and balance
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should show:
- an ability to evaluate and synthesise information in a flexible manner
- a capacity to articulate their knowledge in both oral and written formats

- 2 x multiple choice (open book) online tests (10% each) will be run in week 6 and 12 (total 20%)
- Final exam, 2 hour closed book written exam during the exam period (80%) [Hurdle Requirement]
Hurdle Requirement: Students must pass the final exam in order to pass the subject overall.
