In this subject, students select four of the available modules that enable them to continue to develop their understanding of key principles and skills in the core areas of Design and Production and begin to focus on the specialist area of their choice. Each module includes lectures and in class activities where students are supported in applying theory into practice. These practical exercises provides students with the knowledge and hands on experience to prepare them for specialist production roles.
All students must undertake the 2D and 3D Visual Representation module and then select 3 of the following:
- Stage Management;
- Lighting technology and operation;
- Sound technology and operation;
- Set and Props construction;
- Costume construction;
- Design Studio: Lighting, Sound, Set and Costume *
* Design students must undertake the Design Studio module.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of processes and principles in four of the following areas: stage management, costume construction, lighting technology, sound technology, set/props construction, design, design visualisation;
- identify common equipment and materials employed in four of the following areas: stage management, costume construction, lighting technology, sound technology, set/props construction, design, design visualisation;
- utilise a range of techniques in four of the following areas: stage management, costume construction, lighting technology, sound technology, set/props construction, design, design visualisation.
