This subject extends students awareness of writing, directing, dramaturgy and performance making processes via contemporary generative work and responses to classical material. Working within an ensemble, Theatre students will explore working processes for stage and screen and be involved in the development, rehearsal, performance and evaluation of new material. They will generate the first phase of a new work to be presented in a national festival context. Students continue development of their own performance making methodologies via intense staff led exercises and interpretive rehearsal processes.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Apply writing, directing and performance making methodologies in the realisation of a new work
- Employ performance methodologies and body voice skills in relationship to new works
- Employ critical thinking in a collaborative creative process
