This subject explores theories and models of school community partnerships in relationship to student wellbeing. In this subject students will examine how to improve parental engagement and working cross-sectorally with community agencies and organisations. A visit to a community based organisation will be required.
Intended learning outcomes
Articulate an informed understanding of the current debates, theories and frameworks in regard to parent engagement in schools
Assess the current research on parent engagement to identify appropriate practices for schools
Demonstrate a critical understanding of contemporary theories in relationship to the development of school-community partnership
Evaluate the capacity of school to establish effective and coordinated cross-sectoral community partnerships to enhance student wellbeing and learning in educational settings
