This subject explores theories and models of school community partnerships in relationship to student wellbeing. In this subject students will examine how to improve parental engagement and working cross-sectorally with community agencies and organisations. A visit to a community based organisation will be required.
Intended learning outcomes
- Articulate an informed understanding of the current debates, theories and frameworks in regard to parent engagement in schools
- Assess the current research on parent engagement to identify appropriate practices for schools
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of contemporary theories in relationship to the development of school-community partnership
- Evaluate the capacity of school to establish effective and coordinated cross-sectoral community partnerships to enhance student wellbeing and learning in educational settings
