Screen Practice 1B further develops skills attained in Screen Practice 1A and other Semester One work, including advanced editing practices and sound recording techniques. The subject requires students to consolidate skills learned via the production of a short motion picture production that they write and produce from concept to completion. Students also crew for other students in areas such as camera, lighting, sound recording & assistant directing.
Intended learning outcomes
On completing this subject students will be able to:
- apply filmmaking skills including direction of actors, cinematography, sound recording and editing, production management, assistant directing and other basic principles of filmmaking during one substantial production;
- apply creativity and storytelling skills through production;
- utilise a broad range of communication methods and apply leadership skills to guide productions from concept to completion.

On completing this subject students will be able to:
• communicate in visual form;
• plan and organise their work and solve problems;
• lead a team and work collaboratively;
• apply practical knowledge to practical problems;
• begin to develop a set of flexible and transferable skills for different types of employment.
