Students who complete this subject should be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a particular topic in Hispanic cultural studies, linguistics or literature, and demonstrate the ability to analyse and to report on their reading in a manner appropriate to the methodology adopted. Available topics will be posted during Semester 2 of the previous year.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should:
- demonstrate in-depth knowledge of a particular topic in Hispanic cultural studies, linguistics or literature;
- demonstrate the ability to analyse, and to report on their reading in a manner appropriate to the methodology adopted.
Generic skills
At the completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to communicate knowledge, intelligibly and economically: through essay and assignment writing, tutorial discussion and class presentations;
- have acquired written communication skills: through essay and assignment preparation and writing;
- have acquired public speaking skills and confidence in self-expression: through tutorial participation and class presentations;
- demonstrate attention to detail: through close reading and textual analysis, essay preparation and writing, and examination revision;
- have developed time management and planning: through managing and organizing workloads for required and recommended reading, essay and assignment completion and revision for examinations.
