This subject will allow select Master of Applied Psychology (MAP) students to take part in an industry internship. The internship will allow students to experience real-world application of their coursework topics. The organizations offering placement positions include advertising agencies, communication/PR agencies, research agencies, large corporate firms, and government departments. Tasks will vary as a function of industry/organization, but may include literature reviews, design of communications, evaluation of communications, data analysis, and research.
Entry to the internship positions will be competitive with selection based on a mix of previous grades from other MAP subjects and stated suitability for the position.
MAP students must complete either this internship subject or the research project subject (PSYCH90106)
Intended learning outcomes
- Experience a real-world application of an industry related to the MAP course
- Reflect on learnings from the internship and how they apply to the theoretical content of the course.

ASSESSED TASKS
A 500 word Internship Plan due 1 week before the internship begins (10%)
A 1,000 word Progress Report due mid-way through the internship placement (25%)
A 1,500 word Internship Experience Report due 1 week after the internship concludes (50%)
A 15 minute Internship Experience Presentation (Individual presentation) due in Week 12 of semester (15%)
All assessment items listed above will be due no later than the end of Week 12 of semester and therefore prior to SWOT VAC.
HURDLE REQUIREMENT
Students must satisfy the hurdle requirement of at least 80% attendance at the Internship. Students who do not satisfy this requirement will not pass the subject.
