This subject focuses on the factors that facilitate optimal performance of individuals in orchestral auditions and stressful performance situations. Underpinned by theoretical frameworks, research findings and using real-world examples, this subject will engage students in practical strategies commonly used to achieve optimal performance.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- understand and develop the mental and emotional capabilities necessary for consistent skill execution and positive performance experiences
- identify, prevent and manage health risks resulting from playing an instrument for extended time periods
- develop the confidence necessary to perform under pressure in audition, recording, and performance settings
