Overview

**This information only applies to students who commenced the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre) degree prior to 2021**


In 2021, the University introduced an updated Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) curriculum, in which - in addition to practical studio-based classes with a structured program of high-level skills training and theoretical subjects in your chosen discipline - commencing students will be required to undertake Breadth studies in subjects from outside their core discipline.

Current students will transition into the new core curriculum in 2021, with a broader range of elective subjects being on offer, drawn from within your main area of study and outside of it.

Structure

For students who commenced prior to 2021

300-point program:

  • 262.5 points of compulsory subjects
    • 87.5 points at Level 1
    • 75 points at Level 2
    • 100 points at Level 3
  • 37.5 points of electives

Notes for students who commenced prior to 2021:

From 2021 onward: complete all listed compulsory subjects at the designated level.

Elective subjects can be selected from the VCA Elective Subjects list or from the list of approved Breadth Subjects; see below.

Students wanting to choose a Breadth subject in place of a VCA Elective should submit an Enrolment Variation Form or contact Stop 1 for further information.
