This subject focuses on creating and animating characters and worlds to build on knowledge and skills acquired in Animation Studio 1A and 1B.
The subject aims to provide students with skills in testing and experimenting with original designs to further advance their knowledge in animation acting, animation timing, environments, colour, lighting and scene planning. Students will apply digital 2D and 3D animation and design tools to create model sheets, colour scripts, storyboards, lip synchronisation and animation sequences.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate character design principles for animation;
- apply production design techniques to world building;
- show creative animation development through experimentation;
- produce a range of character movements and timings that show personality and expression;
- demonstrate organisational skills when managing animation productions;
- identify new and emerging animation tools and techniques;
- critique, evaluate and apply feedback to reflect on animation tests and experiments.
