In this subject students gain an understanding and insight into how the Art Department operates. This includes understanding roles and responsibilities as well as the processes that are followed in order for the department to run effectively and fulfil its responsibilities. Areas covered include art direction, budgeting, scheduling, continuity, standby props and clearances.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- identify key roles within a conventional Art Department and outline the responsibilities of each position;
- create a budget and a running budget;
- articulate how an Art Department operates;
- perform clearances and ensure that copyright issues are dealt with correctly.
Generic skills
On completion of the subject students should have developed:
- the ability to develop and run a budget;
- the ability to develop a schedule.
