Students participate in staff-supervised ensembles as approved by the ensemble director.
Performers will develop their techniques as ensemble players and study selected repertoire to performance standard. Composers will develop their skills in writing for and working with ensembles, in rehearsal and concert.
All students enrolled in Honours Ensemble must register their ensemble via the online form at the Fine Arts and Music Current Students page no later than the end of week 2.
Delivery
This subject is co-delivered with MUSI40063 Honours Ensemble 1. Students cannot simultaneously enrol in co-taught subjects in the same study period.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- show technical development as ensemble musicians;
- participate with ability and self-confidence as a member of a performing group;
- (for performers) perform selected repertoire to concert standard; (for composers) prepare and present a new work for performance;
- identify and exhibit specific knowledge of a range of ensemble repertoire;
- exhibit an informed respect for the values and principles of ensemble performance.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently;
- study selected repertoire relevant to the ensemble to performance standard;
- apply time and people management skills to rehearsal and performance planning.
