This subject builds on the work of previous semesters to extend the actor’s creative and technical flexibility through continued studio work on voice, movement and acting methodologies. Detailed character and text work with integrated physical and vocal choices allow the student to extend their transformational abilities in support of the performance projects for the semester.
Students continue to apply an autonomous practice addressing specific technical and creative goals in consultation with staff, to build fitness, resilience and self-confidence as a performer. Through training tasks and exercises, students integrate their acting, vocal and physical skills.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate strong and flexible vocal support and physical presence appropriate for performance to tasks and exercises;
- integrate authentic and detailed physical and vocal choices into script and character work;
- apply informed and imaginative choices for performance of a character incorporating behavioural actions and objectives;
- employ an expanding range of imagination and expression across classes, overcoming inefficient patterns and habits;
- apply and sustain informed curiosity and discipline in independent and collaborative exercises and tasks;
- reflect upon the application of voice, movement and acting skills in character work.
