This subject is an introduction to a broad suite of concepts and techniques that will develop awareness and skills in the fundamental principles of animation production.
Students will be given creative problems to solve through experimentation with each animation technique such as stop-motion and 2D and will utilise different methods such as straight-ahead and key-frame animation.
Students will also undertake exercises in drawing, audio recording and will be introduced to animation software.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate observational and analytical drawing skills for animation;
- apply animation techniques that demonstrate basic control of materials and tools;
- demonstrate creative animation development through experimentation;
- produce a range of expressions and timings with representational and abstract animation;
- manage animation project schedules;
- explore animation resources to develop animation content;
- critique and evaluate feedback to review animation projects.

- plan and organise their work and solve problems;
- lead a team and work collaboratively;
- apply practical knowledge to practical problems.
