Students choose an industry attachment or a substantial research document that prepares them for a career in the entertainment industry.
Students who choose an attachment will be expected to find a film, television or allied industry attachment for a period of 2 - 4 weeks intensively or weekly for 6 - 10 weeks. This will be off-campus depending on the location of the attachment.
The attachment exercise will involve the student writing a report. The research option will involve a substantial piece of research and a final output, developing a creative concept or idea and developing it into a product, worthy of financing.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- develop the skills necessary to work with industry professionals in the entertainment industry;
- demonstrate an ability to work in a creative industry that embraces sound business skills;
- demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to the development of production;
- demonstrate an ability to work creatively with industry professional writers and directors.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- demonstrate leadership qualities to work within any creative or business field;
- demonstrate a thorough understanding of the relationship between business and the creative industries.
