Graduate Chamber Music involves elite graduate students from the music performance cohort forming, rehearsing and performing with instrumental groupings of 3 to 8 instrumentalists.
Students will develop elite musical, technical and interpersonal skills as required of professional performing musicians, through intensive practise and dynamic group rehearsal of selected repertoire.
The subject requires a high level of professionalism, including the ability to engage in timely, clear, and appropriate verbal and written communication, individual part accountability, and regular coordination of group rehearsal schedules.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- practice independence and creativity as chamber musicians;
- perform selected repertoire to professional standard;
- demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently in matters of style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending and musical gesture;
- apply culturally informed choices to the performance style employed in particular repertoire;
- apply time and people management skills to rehearsal and performance leadership.
