This unit will provide a comprehensive overview of the major psychosocial interventions that have demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in young people. Subject content includes:
- General principles of psychosocial interventions
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for a range of presentations
- A variety of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for young people
- Working with families and groups in therapeutic contexts
- Developing treatment plans
Intended learning outcomes
By the end of this subject students should be able to:
- Articulate the rationale and principles that underlie the therapeutic context
- Describe the application of cognitive-behavioural interventions in the treatment of mental ill-health in young people
- Describe a range of evidence-based psychosocial interventions for young people
- Develop a treatment plan that incorporates a range of psychosocial interventions for working with young people
