Overview
Intended learning outcomes
On the successful completion of the Master of Environmental Engineering (Earth Observation) students will:
- be able to develop advanced knowledge of the principles of environmental engineering underpinning sustainable development including systems thinking and critical thinking for environmental issues, including those related to earth systems;
- be able to develop research principles and methods in the field of environmental engineering, including those related to earth systems;
- be able to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and to reflect critically on theory and professional practice of environmental engineering, including those related to earth systems;
- be able to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories and to apply established theories to different bodies of knowledge or practice in environmental engineering, including those related to earth systems;
- be able to model and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level, especially those related to earth systems;
- be able to develop advanced knowledge in environmental planning, management, compliance and review, especially those related to earth observation systems;
- be able to justify and interpret theoretical propositions, methodologies, decisions; and to design, evaluate, implement, analyse developments that contribute to professional practice or scholarship in the field of environmental engineering related to earth systems.

Structure
62.5 credit points
The Earth Observation specialisation is completed by undertaking at least four Year 3 Earth Observation electives (a minimum of 50 credit points).
Note:
Students entering the course with advanced standing who plan on completing a specialisation may need to enrol in core specialisation subjects in their commencing semester. Please check and follow the structure outlined for your intended specialisation and seek course planning advice.
To obtain a specialisation in Earth Observation, students must complete:
- 62.5 credit points of Year 3 Environmental Engineering and/or Specialisation electives including
- A minimum of 50 credit points of Year 3 Earth Observation electives

Students may choose up to 12.5 points of subjects from the list of Environmental Engineering Electives or may choose to complete the fifth Earth Observation subject.
