Overview
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Specialised Pathway further builds Teacher Candidates’ capacity to teach and lead in this critical area. Teacher Candidates will refine their understanding of teaching and learning frameworks and pedagogical strategies specific to the discipline of integrated STEM.

Structure
Subject Options
The STEM Specialised Pathway requires a minimum of 62.5 points of study with a STEM focus, as outlined below. Teacher Candidates follow either the Coursework or Research Option.
From 2022, STEM Teacher Candidates who have not yet completed EDUC90778 Primary Mathematics Education 1 will take EDUC91080 Mathematics Education: Primary 1.
From 2022, STEM Teacher Candidates who have not yet completed the extension subject EDUC90834 Primary Mathematics Education 2 will take EDUC90773 Primary Mathematics Education 2.

Electives
Teacher Candidates complete one of the Alternative Electives. Refer to the full elective list for subjects. From 2023, Place Based Electives and EDUC90794 Science in the Integrated Curriculum are no longer offered.
Research Option
A STEM focus must be taken in the two research-focused subjects (from 2023, Teacher Candidates who have not yet successfully completed EDUC90558 Education Research Design will instead take EDUC91197 Research Project in Education):
