---|
This subject extends the actor through generative and interpretative on-screen projects while developing the fundamental principles of on-screen acting. Students will refine their skills via acting exercises and scene study work, which will focus on the development of different on-camera performance styles and genres, such as, drama, crime, fantasy, horror, and science fiction. Using a range of film and television scripts, students will gain experience in performing scenes in single and multiple camera set-ups, as well as viewing and critiquing their on-camera performances.
Through tutorials and practical workshops, students develop an understanding of the technical aspects of shooting a scene, such as, the single shot, two shot, three shot, over-the-shoulder shot, and Point-of-View shot, and how these affect performance.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- apply the technical skills of shooting a scene on camera;
- prepare, perform and critique scenes for different on-camera styles and genres for performance;
- integrate skills in movement and acting for digital and on-camera performance contexts.
