The Master of Music (Orchestral Performance) is a practice-based coursework degree that prepares students for specialist careers in the area of instrumental performance, including orchestral, chamber and solo repertoires.
The degree takes two years full-time to complete and delivery engages professionals in the industry and builds on flexible partnerships between the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM) and a selection of local and regional professional orchestras.
Students participate in ensembles and classes at the MCM and gain industry experiences in side-by-side projects with professionals and elective placement opportunities with industry partners.
A capstone experience across two subjects in the final semester of the course provides opportunities for industry-standard solo and orchestral performances, which are contextualized by formal reflections.
